Fully Known and Loved

“You have searched me, Lord, and you know me.
You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.
You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways.

Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely.
You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.

Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.

If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.”1

If you are anything like me, I am sure there have been times where you have wondered how God can continue loving us, even when we fail. Perhaps there have also been times where you feel misunderstood by those around you and you feel like no one really knows you. Today’s passage so beautifully explains the understanding King David had of our relationship with God. There is nowhere we can go that God is not there, and there is nothing we can feel or go through that God does not understand. We can rest completely knowing that His right hand holds us. What a beautiful thing to know we are fully known and fully loved by our Heavenly Father.

Suggested prayer: Dear God, I praise you and thank you for loving me just as I am. You know everything about me and there is no where I can hide from your presence. Despite my flaws, you call me your child and choose to have this beautiful relationship with me. Thank you for holding me and guiding me. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
