ACTS Special Prayer Needs

Dear ACTS Prayer Partner,

While every day we are seeing people from various parts of the world record their salvation and/or their re-commitment to Jesus Christ response, we also see continuing challenges and, today, have two special challenges with need for prayer.

First, several weeks ago a legal firm accused us of illegally using a piece of clip art on our website and told us that if we immediately paid them $25,000 they would drop the case. Our ACTS Board felt that it was a scam so we decided to delay replying to them. Later, they said they would lower the payment to $12,500 and that if we paid this by a certain date, they would drop the charge. We didn't pay. The clip art of all things was a very small piece saying, "Bible Study."

I replied to this legal company assuring them that I received this piece of clip art in a clip art book I purchased several years ago and that the clip art in this book is for the purpose of using on the web and is royalty free. I gave them the details of this clip art book with both the publisher and the copyright information.

Now they are still wanting proof that I purchased this book and that I need to send them the name of our attorney. I bought this book about 8-10 years ago soon after I started doing our ACTS websites and it would be quite a challenge to find that receipt and from where I bought this book. If we have to use an attorney and get into a legal battle, this could cost us who knows how many thousands of dollars even though all our Board members and the legal advice I have received to date believe this is a scam.

For those who don't know, several years ago I was in a four-year legal battle over my retirement fund that was stolen by my former broker in Australia. This legal battle was finally settled out of court causing me to lose half my retirement fund. The legal fees cost me $(AD)80,000!

Please pray that God will give us the victory in this matter as we used this piece of clip art from the book we purchased, the title of which is, Web Explosion 20,000 Images User Manual. And if we have to have legal help, please pray we can find a Christian attorney who will take our case and not charge us an arm and a leg.

Second: Last Friday we lost 30,000+ Daily Encounter subscribers in the one day. I sent an urgent message to the tech support company we use and they believed that we were blacklisted with MSN/Hotmail by someone who must have hated our Daily Encounter ministry. Consequently MSN/Hotmail caused our 30,000 mostly Hotmail subscribes to be blocked and unsubscribed. This is a major (and costly) loss—a loss that is one-tenth of our Daily Encounter ministry in one day. By way of interest, Daily Encounter is our most productive evangelistic outreach ministry.

Now tech support has to change our set up to fix this problem and do their best to protect against this type of thing happening again. Please pray that this problem can be fixed quickly and that we will be able to recoup these 30,000+ subscribers. This is the sixth "attack" the ACTS gospel ministry has experienced in the last 21 months!

As noted before, I believe Satan knows his time is getting shorter and is violently opposed to the spreading of the gospel. The encouraging news, however, is that God is still in control. But in light of all the challenges facing us in today’s world—a world that desperately needs the saving gospel of Jesus Christ—we dare not let up, because Jesus is the only hope for our sin-sick world.

3. That God will supply the need so we can continue our aggressive advertising to reach multiplied thousands of non-Christians worldwide every 24-7-365.
4. For the salvation of multiplied thousands worldwide.
5. Because of the economic situation we have lost considerable support so far this year. Please pray that God will provide the necessary funds to meet all operating expenses.
