Dear People Power Partner,

I had a vivid reminder of the brevity of life from my oldest son who turns 40 in a few days. He said, "I can't believe that I am about to turn 40!" I can hardly believe it either. Where have all the years gone? Sure makes me realize how short life is.

Whatever it is we really need to do—such as sending a friend a note of appreciation ... telling your spouse and your children that you love them ... making that important phone call you've been putting off ... and especially sharing or sending the gospel to that person God has laid on your heart. Do it today as there are no guarantees of tomorrow.

I had an overseas friend I was about to send the gospel to. Tragically, he died suddenly of a heart attack. I was too late. Don't put off what you need to do as the person in the following prose did:

Remember

Remember the day I borrowed your brand new car
    and I dented it?
I thought you'd kill me, but you didn't.
And remember the time I dragged you to the beach,
    and you said it would rain, and it did?
I thought you'd say, "I told you so." But you didn't.
Do you remember the time I flirted with all the guys
    to make you jealous, and you were?
I thought you'd leave me, but you didn't.
Do you remember the time I spilled strawberry pie
    all over your car rug?
I thought you'd hit me, but you didn't.
And remember the time I forgot to tell you the dance
    was formal and you showed up in jeans?
I thought you'd drop me, but you didn't.
Yes, there were lots of things you didn't do.
But you put up with me, and you loved me, and you
    protected me.
There were lots of things I wanted to make up to you
    when you returned from Iraq.
But you didn't.¹
