People Reaching People--A Powerful & Mighty Force
Dear People Power for Jesus Partner,
I am constantly reminded of Christ's commission to every Christian when He said, "You are to go into all the world and preach [communicate] the Good News to everyone everywhere" (Mark 16:15, TLB).
Jesus also called us to be fishers of men [people], saying,
"Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men" (Matthew 4:19, NKJV). So if Christians are truly following Jesus, they will be involved in fishing for lost people; that is, spreading the gospel and seeking to win others to Jesus.
I recently heard a prominent preacher say that the reason he didn't give an invitation for people to come to Christ
when he was preaching, was because Jesus didn't give an invitation. Amazing! I thought when Jesus said to people, "Follow me," that was an invitation. I cannot help but wonder how many church members have never made a commitment to receive Jesus as Savior and follow Him because they were never invited to.
Furthermore, I just read about a very large church in Grand Rapids, MI, the pastor of which is now claiming that Jesus died for everyone so no one will go to Hell. What a devastating distortion of God's Word … and a tragic way to actually allow—if not damn—untold numbers to a lost eternity in Hell.
Come to think of it, I can't remember the last time I heard a sermon on Hell with a Sound Biblical warning to "flee from the wrath to come." Nor can I remember hearing a sermon about the coming Antichrist. And I can't recall when I last heard a sermon on Heaven and the need to make sure we had entered via "the narrow gate" by accepting Jesus as our Savior.
Warning: Danger Ahead! What if we noticed that a bridge had collapsed—a bridge that was around a bend on a high speed highway, the danger of which was out of sight to oncoming traffic—and we were the first to notice it? Would we call 911 immediately to send for urgent help? And would we do everything we could to warn oncoming motorists of the danger ahead? Or would we reason that it wasn't our responsibility to do this, and turn around and be on our way?
How cruel, irresponsible, and murderous that would be!
So what if hell is real and we do absolutely nothing to warn people of the impending doom ahead? We would not only be false witnesses, we would be insensitive, uncaring, unloving self-centered people and, consequently, would be contributing to the damning of untold numbers to hell.
There is obviously an urgent need for every Christian to be actively involved in helping to reach as many people as we possibly can with the saving gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, for, without Him, people are lost for all eternity. And People Power for Jesus is one very simple way for thousands of Christians to be involved in being "fishers of people" for Jesus.
A very simple but powerfully effective way to achieve this goal is through People Power, which, without question is a powerful means for achieving this goal and effectively communicating the gospel of Jesus Christ... As Richard Halverson pointed out "People Power" is a mighty force.
Below are "People Power Helps" to give you practical tips for simple ways to reach others for Christ. But will you also encourage many Christian friends to join with you as a "People Power for Jesus Partner" by sending them the People Power for Jesus website and encouraging them to join. Be sure to let them know that there is no charge only simple and non-offensive ways to help share the gospel with family, friends and contacts.
May we, together, daily commit and trust our life and way to God telling him that we are available for Him to use and to help us to be "as Jesus" in some way to every life we touch this day. This is a powerful prayer. I've been praying it every day for years, and plan to do so for the rest of my life.
Let me share what one person wrote: "I want to thank you for the wisdom and inspiration I receive from your Daily Encounter. Thank you so much from both of us for your teachings and words of wisdom."
