Rattled by a Rattlesnake
Dear People Power for Jesus Partner,
As I wrote in our ACTS monthly news letter we had a very “exciting” afternoon the other day. Our puppy, Addie, was out on our back porch barking furiously. Finally, Joy went out to see what the ruckus was all about. There was a good sized rattlesnake cornered against our kitchen wall in a ready to strike postion. We’re sure thankful that Addie kept a safe distance. As this was our first encounter with a rattlesnake Joy and I were really scared.
Joy called the animal control people to come and rescue us. But the snake slithered down over a three-foot wall into our garden area. Now that I felt safer, Joy got me a shovel and with her help, I managed to cut its head off. When the animal control lady finally arrived, she was really furious at me for killing this venomous snake. She picked up the dead snake and stormed out.
Certainly I’m for protecting animal life but not when people’s lives are in danger. To this animal control lady the rattlesnake was a whole lot more important than our grandchildren who play on the deck, to ourselves, and to our puppy (that also happens to be an animal).
Amazing isn’t it? For many today it’s not okay to kill a venomous snake but it’s okay and approved by millions to kill babies that are not wanted. And how many Christians are genuinely committed to missions and the saving of lost souls?
Furthermore, I wonder how many Americans genuinely appreciate the incredible freedoms we have to even preach the gospel. For millions in many lands it can be extremely dangerous just to read or listen to the gospel.
For instance, I just had a young man from Afghanistan email me wanting to know more about Jesus and how to pray to Him. But he told me that if he got caught praying to Jesus he would get his throat slit.
And the way we are going here in America with the present political climate seeking to get “hate crime laws” passed, it may not be long before preaching what the Bible teaches about false religions, homosexuality (and gay marriage) will become hate crimes—punishable by law. As a nation we are without doubt on a very slippery slope morally and are fast losing our moral compass.
Perhaps as never before there is a desperate need for “We, the members of God’s Church” to do everything in our power to proclaim the Word of God and the saving gospel of Jesus Christ—in season and out of season—no matter what—while the doors of opportunity are still open. I truly believe that if this is going to happen to make any kind of a meaningful impact on our nation and around the world, it will take a grass roots movement of multiplied thousands (perhaps millions) of individual Christians such as a People Power for Jesus movement.
Think of the incredibly powerful impact President Obama has with his 13 million email subscribers.
Imagine what could be done in today’s world with 13 million truly committed People Power for Jesus Partners!
I remember reading about an English pastor who once said, “Everywhere the Apostle Paul went there was either a revival or a revolution. Everywhere I go they serve tea?” There’s nothing wrong with serving tea but to trigger a revolution for Jesus it will take a whole lot more than serving tea.
As a People Power for Jesus partner there are three actions I am asking you to be committed to this month:
- Prayer: The number one need today for a God-revolution is prayer. Will you please pray every day that God will greatly bless the outreach of every People Power for Jesus Partner that several thousand will receive the gospel and receive Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior?
- Action: Will you please forward this web page to every single Christian you know with a note to encourage them to join with us as a People Power for Jesus partner? Please don't put it off but do it right now. You can easily do this by clicking on the
button at the top of this page. Unfortunately, I just discovered you can only send to one email address at a time using this link.
You can also type in a simple message in the "Note box" saying "Hi Friend, Like me, I am sure that you are also concerned about your non-Christian family and friends. I have found a very simple, attractive and non-offensive way to be able to communicate the Christian message. I encourage you to read this web page and prayerfully consider joining with me as a People Power for Jesus partner. This is sponsored by ACTS International, a non-profit Christian outreach organization.
- Outreach: One of the simplest ways to share the gospel is by sending a dynamic Daily Encounter message such as “A Voice in the Night.” This is a true story of personal friends whose home was struck by lightning and they were miraculously awakened by a voice in the night warning them to wake up. In response to this message in just one day last month we received 124 salvation and re-commitment to Jesus responses from 29 countries! Please go to this page by Clicking HERE and then click on the
button at the top of the page. As noted in #2, you can only send to one email address at a time. Sorry about my mistake.
You can also type in a simple message in the "Note box" such as I’d like to suggest that you read this exciting story about a family who were awakened in the night by hearing a clear voice after their house was struck by lightning. It is a very inspiring and fascinating story. It is written by Richard (Dick) Innes of ACTS International and it happened to personal friends of his and his wife, Joy.
Please let me know that you are committed to the above three actions and will definitely act on all three of these in June. You can let me know by going to our Feedback page at http://www.actsweb.org/people_power/contact.php and simply type in the feedback box: "Hey Richard Count me in on the three actions for June."
And as you fulfill your commitment, may God richly bless and reward you in his own abundant way.
Sincerely in Christ,

Dick Innes
