Good News—Daily Encounter reached the 400,000 Subscriber Mark!
Dear People Power for Jesus Partner,
Last month we received a very special $(US)5.00 note donation that was carefully wrapped and concealed in a sheet of paper and stapled together. What made this so moving was that the stamps on the envelope (while we couldn't decipher the language) had in tiny print on them "Kuwait." Thus, this donation came from a Muslim country. I think perhaps it was so carefully wrapped that what was inside the envelope couldn't be seen. The only way to "identify" the donor was by the email address, also hidden inside the envelope. I checked and discovered that this person was a subscriber to Daily Encounter!
What is incredibly encouraging is that today's electronic media via e-Mail and the Internet is reaching behind the tightly closed borders of so many countries in the world—places where it is forbidden to share the gospel—and to do so, if you get caught, can get your throat slit. These tools of communication are without doubt from God. What an opportunity He has given to his people today to be able to reach so many for Christ worldwide 24-7-365 as e-Mail and the Internet never sleep.
What is also amazing is that while Joy and I are our only staff in our US office, visitors to our gospel websites (on average) come from 194 countries and territories—every month! So much can be done today by so few via the electronic media, so economically.
Long ago the Apostle Paul wrote, "You know that I have not hesitated to preach anything that would be helpful to you but have taught you publicly and from house to house" (Acts 20:20). In other words, Paul had an Acts 20:20 (perfect) vision; that is, he was determined to reach as many people with the gospel as he possibly could.
If we are to reach today's world we, too, need an Acts 20:20 vision. In fact—going house to house via e-Mail and the Internet—we can reach as many people with the gospel in one day what probably took the disciples years to do.
With ACTS it took our first 30 years to distribute 40 million pieces of printed gospel literature. But today via e-Mail we are now sending the message of Jesus Christ to 400,000+ Daily Encounter subscribers every week day of the year—equaling 2,000,000 Daily Encounters every week … and 104 million a year—at a fraction of a fraction of the cost to reach this many people just a few years ago! Plus we are reaching many thousands more via our ACTS web sites.
Even more encouraging is that every day of the year we are receiving salvation and re-commitment to Christ decision/ responses from somewhere in the world. To date this year, we have received 1,847 decisions from 94 countries that we know about!
We are so grateful to God for the incredible opportunity to have a small part in what He is doing in the world today. And we are so very grateful to all the People Power for Jesus partners who, together with us, are reaching many thousands of people around the world with the gospel every day and month—for you, too, have an Acts 20_20 vision to reach people across the street and around the world with the saving gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ—the only hope of our sin-sick world.
May we, together, daily commit and trust our life and way to God telling him that we are available for Him to use and to help us to be "as Jesus" in some way to every life we touch this day. This is a powerful prayer. I've been praying it every day for years, and plan to do so for the rest of my life.
As you continue to stand with us as a People Power for Jesus partner may God richly bless and reward you in his own abundant way—and supply all of your needs according to his riches in glory.
