SATAN and the forces of evil never let up—for the 5th time in the last 18 months ACTS websites were hacked
Dear People Power for Jesus Partner,
As the Apostle Paul said, "I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile" (Romans 1:16, NIV).
While we live in a day of incredible challenges and exciting opportunities, there is no let up on the activities of evil. In mid-July ACTS website ministry was hacked again. According to the tech support company we use it was by "brute force." That is, the hacker sets up one or more computers to automatically keep relentlessly hacking away at us until they break through the security code. We now hope and pray that all the problems are fixed but as of last Thursday, there was a backlog of 500,000 (mostly Daily and Weekend Encounter) emails on our server. These take quite a while—many hours or even a couple of days—to get delivered. Satan obviously hates ACTS gospel outreach.
Furthermore, anti-Christian groups continue their unrelenting attacks on what God's Word teaches. Gay marriage is being accepted more and more—even by some churches. I read a few days ago that the Episcopal Church is giving approval for homosexual pastors.
"The Speaker of the Pennsylvania House ... has just issued (and enforced) a policy which bans the name of Jesus Christ as illegal speech that may not be uttered during voluntary prayers spoken before the Pennsylvania state legislature."
"On Wednesday August 5th, 2009, the city council of Lodi, California, led by Mayor Xxx, will debate and possibly vote to ban the name of Jesus from public prayers offered by guest pastors invited to pray the invocation."
As Chuck Colson said in BreakPoint: "Today Americans find themselves swept up in the perfect cultural storm. We have a financial meltdown caused largely by moral failures in government, Wall Street, and the public. We're paying the bill for decades of self-indulgence, fueled by rampant relativism, rejection of the Christian work ethic, and materialism. And we have an army of Islamic jihadists who hope to destroy Israel and the Western world" (May 11, 2009, www.breakpoint.org).
As we Christians know, the only hope of our sin-sick nation and sin-sick world is the saving gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. If ever there was a time when the gospel needs to be proclaimed around the world it is TODAY! With God's help several million People Power for Jesus people, together could make a mighty impact on millions of people worldwide. And this could be made via the Internet and email and all aspects of the electronic media.
For instance, according to Assist News Service (April 2, 2009), "Today nearly 1.6 billion people use the Internet—24% of the world popu-lation. Internet use has soared by 475% in Asia, 1100% in Africa and 1200% in the Middle East in less than a decade." We are thus living in the midst of a communication revolution—so let's make the best possible use of this God-given tool to share the message of Jesus Christ.
So will you not only continue to reach out to non-christian friends sharing the gospel with them but do your utmost to enlist other Christians to join with us to become People Power for Jesus Partners. So far 1872 people have joined with us, but we need mega thousands more if we are going to make a mighty impact on our world.
But does sending the gospel via email and the Internet work? This is what ACTS is committed to and every day, via our email and Internet ministry, from somewhere in the world, we receive responses from people who have accepted Christ or re-committed their lives to Him—1807 year to date.
Hacker-attackers may hinder and delay us, but by the grace of God they will not stop us.
Satan and the forces of evil are relentless in their efforts to block every form of evangelism and desperate to stop people receiving the gospel and Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. May you and I be just as determined to never, never, never give up spreading the gospel.
As the Apostle Paul also said: “It is God himself, in his mercy, who has given us this wonderful work [of telling his Good News to others], and so we never give up” (2 Corinthians 4:1, TLB). Let us do likewise!
