Moral and Ethical Meltdown
Dear People Power for Jesus Partner,
If you are also an ACTS Prayer Partner or an ACTS Friend, you may have already received much of this message.
Among the many words of encouragement we receive is the following message from Bella who e-mailed us saying, "Dear Mr. Innes, I am from the Philippines. I am 54 years old, have no job, and can't donate in cash. But I forward Daily Encounter to my family, relatives and friends who are Catholic, even to bishops and priests who are my friends, both here in my country and abroad. There are about 500 of them in my address book. They appreciate the messages a lot—some say the messages are very timely. It's my humble way of helping ACTS International spread the Good News. I thank God for the inspiration through the graces He gives you."
I assured Bella that what she is doing is a vital way to have a share in the ministry of ACTS. What a wonderful privilege it is, not only to be able to share the gospel worldwide, but also to work with fellow believers worldwide. The good news is that everywhere we look we can see wonderful blessings of God. At the same time, however, we can also see the work of Satan who is doing everything he can not only to oppose the gospel message, but also to destroy so much of our society.
For example, here in the U.S. we see the continuing erosion of the nation's Christian foundation. On July 19 Chuck Colson reported in BreakPoint the following: "Moral chaos was the phrase that came to mind when I read about the cheating scandal that rocked the Atlanta public school system. Imagine: To boost their pupils' standardized test scores, 178 educators in 44 schools altered and corrected answers that students put down on the tests.
"But Atlanta is not alone. There are investigations of this kind of cheating going on in several states…. We are facing the horrible truth that some of the very people who are supposed to educate our children either no longer care or have the capacity to do the right thing…. Our society is in a moral and ethical meltdown."
Furthermore, here in California, public schools are now going to be required to add lessons about homosexuality. Gary Bauer wrote, "Yesterday California Governor Jerry Brown signed legislation mandating the teaching of 'gay history' in California's public schools. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the new law will 'affect kindergarten through high school curriculum.'
"Worse, it won't be limited to California. As the paper notes, 'The provision on [homosexual] inclusion in textbooks could reach beyond California, too, as many book publishers tailor their texts to California's standards because of the state's large population.'"

In Australia, organized and funded by an Is-amic group called "My Peace"—an organization has placed on billboards and in busses throughout Sydney the following four messages: "Jesus: A Prophet of Islam," "Holy Qur'an: The Final Testament," "Muhammad: Mercy to Mankind" and "Islam: Got Questions? Get Answers."
Is Islam on the march and gaining ground throughout the Western world because of the lack of impact by the organized Church? Makes one wonder, doesn't it?
Here's another shocker: Rick Marschall in Assist News Service writes, "A recently released book is raising dust in Christian circles. Love Wins by Rob Bell presents the argument that most people, or all people, will eventually be redeemed from hell, if there is a hell, because Jesus' death was atonement for all of creation. Eventually, in this life or sometime in Eternity, souls will be persuaded to accept Him…. One of the author's tenets is that God is so loving, it seems impossible that He would let people go to hell." Here is just one more way to deceive people into hell.
With all that is going on in today's world, the need to publish the gospel throughout our country and around the world is becoming ever more urgent. And as Dietrich Bonhoeffer from Germany in Hitler's time said, "Silence in the face of evil is itself evil: God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act."
The only way every person in the world is going to receive the saving gospel of Jesus Christ is if mega thousands of Christians join together and each one help reach as many people as possible with the gospel—and this is what Jesus commissioned every one of us to do; that is, to "go into all the world and preach [communicate] the gospel to everyone everywhere." Never before has this been as possible—and as simple—as it is today via the Internet, e-mail, Facebook and other forms of social media.
