\"The horse is here to stay, but the automobile is only a novelty—a fad,\" a president of the Michigan Savings Bank said to Horace Rackham, Henry Ford\'s lawyer, in 1903, advising him not to invest in the Ford Motor Co. Then there have been numerous predictions of future events that would take place. Some have. Most haven\'t. With the end of the second millennium having now arrived and passed, some have predicted the end of the world. Apparently many predicted the same thing at the end of the first millennium. And all the years in between people have predicted that Jesus Christ would return and that the world would come to an end. Is there any way to know if this will happen or not? "); document.writeln("

First, we do have the promise of Christ\'s return; that is, His second coming. Every prophet in the Old Testament section of the Bible (except for Jonah) makes reference to the end of this world age and/or the return of Jesus Christ. Jesus himself promised that He would return. When His disciples wanted to know about the end of the world, Jesus said, \"Let not your heart be troubled. … I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go … I will come again.\"² "); document.writeln("

Angels also promised that Jesus would come again. Immediately following His ascension to heaven, two angels appeared to Christ\'s followers and said, \"You men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus … shall so come in like manner as you have seen Him go into heaven.\"³ "); document.writeln("

And then almost every writer in the New Testament section of the Bible gave the same promise. According to one scholar, there are 308 references to Christ\'s return in the New Testament alone. Throughout the Bible, over and over, God warns us of the end of this world age, the judgment to come, and the promise of Christ\'s return for His followers. This theme pulsates throughout the Bible right down to the last book, the last chapter, the last page, and the closing paragraph where Christ says, \"Surely I am coming soon.\"⁴

Second, we have proof of Christ\'s return—His second coming. It is reassuring to know that Jesus Christ\'s first coming was predicted in the Old Testament and every prediction was fulfilled in minute detail. For instance, 1500 years prior to Christ\'s coming, Moses said that [the Savior] would be \"the seed of woman\"⁵ and that He would come from the nation of Israel through the tribe of Judah.⁶ A thousand years before Christ Samuel predicted that Christ would be a descendant of the family of David.⁷ Seven hundred years before Christ Micah said Christ would be born in Bethlehem.⁸ About the same time Isaiah prophesied that He would be born of a virgin.⁹ A hundred years later, Daniel predicted the very time of Christ\'s coming.¹⁰"); document.writeln("

David and Isaiah both foretold the sufferings of Christ and the manner of His death hundreds of years before. Referring to Christ, David wrote, \"They pierced My hands and My feet.\"¹¹ This is all the more remarkable in light of the fact that death by crucifixion (being nailed to a cross) was unheard of in the time of David. Third, we need preparation for Christ\'s second coming. Nobody knows except God¹² the exact time of Christ\'s return which will end the world as we know it. The Bible says that this event will be announced by the trumpet call of God. Christians who have died will be raised first and then living Christian believers \"Will be caught up with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air; and so shall we ever be with the Lord.\"¹³ "); document.writeln("

Those left will have to appear before the Great White Judgment Throne of God¹⁵ where all whose names that are not written in God\'s Book of Life¹⁶ will be judged for their sins because they failed to accept Christ\'s pardon. And as Jesus warned, God will have to say to them, \"Depart from me you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.\"¹⁷ "); document.writeln("

Christ likened the kingdom of heaven to ten virgins preparing for a wedding. Five were ready for the bridegroom\'s coming. Five were not. Those ready were taken to the wedding. Those not ready were left behind. In other words, those who have accepted Christ as their Saviour and have received His forgiveness and pardon for their sins and are thus ready for His return, will be taken with Him, to be with Him forever in Heaven. Because Jesus met the sentence of God\'s judgment for our sins—which was death—God offers to us a free pardon. If we fail to accept this pardon, we will have to face God’s judgment for our sins ourselves—which is eternal death and damnation in the place God\'s Word makes clear: hell! "); document.writeln("

While man\'s predictions can never be depended on, God\'s predictions always can be. "); document.writeln("

So if you\'re not sure you are ready for Christ\'s return, and to meet God face to face, why not pray and admit to God that you are a sinner? Tell Jesus that you believe He is the Son of God and thank Him for dying on the cross in your place for your sins. Ask for His forgiveness and invite Him into your heart and life as personal Lord and Savior. In so doing you will receive God\'s full and free pardon, your name will be written in God\'s Book of Life, and you will receive the God\'s forgiveness and His gift of eternal life. Why not pray and do this today and you will be ready for Christ\'s return? God’s pardon is yours for the asking.
