Do Not Worry
Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.1
A dense fog that covers a seven-city-block area one hundred feet deep, is composed of less than one glass of water! A very small amount and yet it can halt the movement of an entire city!
I live in a beach town, so it is not uncommon to see fog come and go with the tide early in the morning or late at night. One late afternoon, as we were driving along, we rounded a bend in the road and suddenly the town before us disappeared inside a heavy fog. The cars that were in front of us were no longer visible and it was only because of their brake lights shining through the thick, heavy mist that we knew they were there. Worry and fear immediately set in. Not being able to see what was ahead became very stressful for us as we slowly drove along, trying to trust in what we could not see.
Walking through the uncertainties of life can feel much like driving through fog. We begin to worry when we cannot see what is next. We allow doubt to cloud our vision and the plan that God has for us becomes unclear. As we know, worrying is not a good thing. Worry leads to stress and that causes us to make rash decisions in the name of fear. Worry will keep us from the ultimate plan that God has for us. When you can no longer see what lies ahead, look for God’s guiding light that is readily available to lead you through the thickest and most uncertain fog. Trust in what you cannot see and believe that the Lord is there and will bring you through to His glory. No matter how thick the fog we go through is, there is no need to worry or fear because God will go beside us all the way.
Suggested prayer: Thank you Lord, that even in the times when I cannot see what is before me, you are there. Help me to seek your light in the darkness and know that you will lead me through. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
