There Is No Record!

“God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.”1

Warren Wiersbe tells the story about a man who purchased a Rolls Royce and decided to tour through Europe. As he was enjoying his drive looking at the sights, suddenly his Rolls Royce broke down with no one around who could fix it. He sent a cable to the company in England, and they flew a man over who did the repairs. The man thought to himself, “This is going to cost me a ton of money.” He waited for a bill, but it never came, so he sent a letter to the company telling them what had happened, how the mechanic had fixed his car, and wondered what the charge would be. He got a letter back from the Rolls Royce Company which said:

"Dear Sir, Thank you so much for your letter. You need to know that we have no record in our files that any Rolls Royce has ever broken down at any place, at any time, for any reason."

This is exactly what has happened in the life of Christians. Romans 3:23-24 tells us that, “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.” We may “break down” or falter but, through Christ, God looks down at us and says, “There is no record of my child’s sin”! When we came to Christ, our long record of sins was wiped clean, and we were set free. Don’t let false guilt hold you down. Jesus’ work on the cross was complete, and there is nothing we can do to add or take away from His perfect sacrifice. Let us humbly accept God’s forgiveness and surrender our lives to Him so that his perfect plan can be completed in us.

Suggested prayer: Dear God, thank you for Jesus through whom I have been made clean and set free from the bondage of sin. Thank you that you hold no record of my wrongs. Please help me live in obedience to Your Word and Your Will. Use me to be an example to others of how you can use anyone! I want to glorify you. Thank you for hearing and answering my prayer. In Jesus’ name, amen.
