Our Prince of Peace

"For unto us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."1

In today's passage, the prophet Isaiah answers a question that many people continually ask themselves to this day: "Where can I find true peace?" A Son will come and not only establish peace on earth, but reveal where it can be found.

When we walk the uncertain paths of life, we long to understand the what, the why, the how, and the when. However, the peace of Christ is not found in human understanding, but a greater and perfect peace is established through the Prince of Peace, who will rule and establish His eternal kingdom on earth.

Christ changes every fragment of sorrow into dance, and gives us a peace that surpasses all understanding. At certain times, God will calm the storm outside of you, but at other times, He will send you the Prince of Peace to calm your heart and to help you face the storm.

If your feelings and emotions are anchored to your circumstances, they will resemble a chart that rises and falls daily in the midst of a stock market crash. You'll have a lot of downs and probably one or two dips. But if you are anchored to the cross of Christ, it becomes your fixed point of peace.

When you leave the uncertainties of tomorrow in the hands of God who is immutable, you will have unshakable peace today. Do not think of peace as a place to be reached, but as a person, Jesus, the Prince of peace in which you must remain.

What uncertainties about tomorrow do you have to give up? Will you put them into the hands of the Prince of Peace?

Suggested Prayer: Precious Lord Jesus, I want to be alert, so that when someone needs peace, I can say out loud that You are the Prince of peace, and that in You there is hope and comfort. I thank you that I can fully trust you for peace in the midst of chaos and uncertainty. I pray that my ears will always be attentive to your voice, and that I may be a faithful and effective ambassador of your Kingdom. I pray in Jesus' name, Amen.
