Prayer Encounter ... a report to Prayer Partners of ACTS International

"I lift up my eyes to the hills—where does my help come from?
My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth"

(Psalm 121:1-2, NIV).

ACTS SOS Appeal

Dear ACTS Prayer Partner,

These days there’s certainly no shortage of bad news—but thanks be to God there is no shortage of very encouraging news either.

Here’s a bit of both. Last month we reported how the principal of Pace High School in Florida and the athletic director were facing criminal charges for blessing the food at a lunch for adults (no students were present). Because the lunch was held on school property, the men were facing jail time and $5,000 fines for their “offense.” The lawsuit was brought by the ACLU. Fortunately on Sept 17 the Florida court dropped all charges. But we know that the ACLU and other anti-God people will continue their relentless drive to rid America of every vestige of God and Christianity.

Imagine in the U.S. that praying over a meal was being treated as a criminal offense—and legalized abortion for almost any reason is perfectly acceptable to these same people!

Added to the above is all the business corruption seen in recent days; the ongoing threat of radical Muslim terrorism; the continuing moral decline; the ordination of some homosexual pastors and the aggressive push promoting the homosexual lifestyle and gay marriage; the growing conflict in the political world; and the present economic crisis that is seriously affecting much of the world.

I believe Satan knows his time is getting shorter and is violently opposed to Christianity and the spreading of the gospel. The encouraging news, however, is that God is still in control. But in light of all the challenges facing us in today’s world—a world that desperately needs the saving gospel of Jesus Christ—we dare not let up, because Jesus is the only hope for our sin-sick world.

ACTS challenge is that the economic crisis has hit our gospel outreach ministry very hard. Over the past two months online giving is down by 40% and over the past few months we have lost many supporters owing to the financial crisis they are in.

The exciting news is that never before has the Church had such an incredible opportunity to spread the gospel worldwide. In fact, today’s electronic media has created a communications revolution the like of which the world has never before seen—through it the gospel is speeding to the ends of the earth. Could this be in fulfillment of Christ’s prophecy regarding his return?

People worldwide are now being reached with the gospel 24-7-365. According to Assist News Service, "Today nearly 1.6 billion people use the Internet—24% of the world population...." This growth is accelerating every day.

In the past 20 months, because of ACTS aggressive advertising, Daily Encounter alone has grown from 120,000+ to 306,000 worldwide subscribers! As a result ACTS is sending out 1.53 million Daily Encounters every week … 6.6 million every month and 79.5 million a year! And the number of subscribers is increasing daily. Plus most of our decisions for Christ come from Daily Encounter readers being directed to our gospel websites. This is why we invest so much in advertising this very fruitful and productive ministry.

In addition every month ACTS gospel websites are seeing (on average) 40,000 visitors from 190 countries and territories. Best of all, every day ACTS is seeing salvation and re-commitment to Jesus Christ responses/decisions from around the world.

Yes, ACTS growth has been phenomenal and we badly need additional staff help to cope with the ever increasing workload. But our most urgent and immediate need right now is financial support. Year to date our income has fallen $27,000 short of expenses and our reserve fund has been used up. As a result ACTS, right now, is facing a severe financial shortage.

To continue our advertising to reach the unchurched world we urgently need $3600 by October 28. Plus we need to make up our $27,000 shortfall and maintain all our overhead expenses.

This is a very pressing need. So will you please pray earnestly that God will provide the needed funds? It is the support of concerned friends that keeps ACTS on the front line “fighting the good fight” spreading the gospel and Word of God around the world and is greatly appreciated.

Your prayer support is a vital part of the ACTS gospel outreach ministry and is the very foundation of this ministry. As you stand with us in prayer in this needy hour may God richly bless and reward you in his own abundant way.

Gratefully in Christ,

Dick and Joy Innes

Praise God for the following:

  1. Salvation and re-commitment to Jesus Christ responses received every day from many countries.
  2. Tremendous ongoing growth of Daily Encounter now with 306,000+ worldwide subscribers—many of whom are non-Christians
  3. 40,000+ visitors coming to the ACTS websites monthly from close to 190 countries and territories.
Urgent needs for prayer. Please pray for...
  1. God's protection against malicious hackers and spammers.
  2. Physical health for both Joy and myself.
  3. That God will supply the need so we can continue our aggressive advertising to reach multiplied thousands of non-Christians worldwide every 24-7-365.
  4. For the salvation of multiplied thousands.
  5. Because of the economic situation we have lost considerable support so far this year. Please pray that God will provide the necessary funds to meet all operating expenses.

"It is God himself, in his mercy, who has given us this wonderful work (of telling his Good News to others) and so we never give up." — 2 Corinthians 4:1 (TLB).
