All those the Father gives me will come to me, and
whoever comes to me I will never drive away.1
Can you imagine what it must have been like to sit at the
feet of the Lord Jesus? Mary of Bethany knew it. Also Peter, Jacob and John.
They all knew what it was like to be in the presence of eternal Love. However,
even though the Lord was with them, they still did not have the fullness of
God, as we enjoy it today through the presence of the Holy Spirit. You may be
thinking: that was fine with Mary and the others, but I am so easily drawn into
temptation...What does God think of me, and how can I be sure that He will
accept me when I go to Him?
God will never reject you. Those who followed the Savior
knew this well because they experienced His love and acceptance in a personal
way. Mary was at the feet of Jesus because she chose to be there. His love
attracted her, but she decided to go to Him. The same was true for all who were
close to Christ.
There will always be temptations competing for our hearts.
We must decide who or what we love most, and when it comes to choosing between
God and the things of the world, there is only one option: Jesus Christ.
God always welcomes you. Thank Him for His eternal love.
Suggested Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, I know that I am
assured of Your acceptance and rest in Your presence, no matter what burdens I
carry. Thank you Lord, because you always make me feel welcome and loved. Thank
you for offering me full acceptance, regardless of my imperfections, burdens,
or mistakes. Thank you for always receiving me. In the name of Jesus I pray,
Amen.
