Bad Days Turned Good

When times are good, be happy; but when times are bad, consider this:

God has made the one as well as the other. Therefore, no one can discover anything about their future.1

We all have good and bad days. Our day could start well " you got up before your alarm and had time to eat breakfast before heading out the door. The day continues good, but then, someone makes you angry and suddenly your good start has been replaced by a bad end. So even though we started with a good attitude, we now find ourselves fighting negative emotions. Our anger can be triggered by many different things, but we must be careful that our anger does not control us. The Bible reminds us in Ephesians 4:26-27, “In your anger do not sin: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold.Even when our anger gets the best of us, God is always there to help when we call on Him.

Joseph had every reason to be angry. He had the ultimate ‘good day turned bad’. He was his father’s beloved son, but his brothers’ jealousy drove them to sell Joseph to a caravan of slaves headed to Egypt. Just when it seemed that Joseph had hit rock bottom and would have been angry for the way his life was turning out, God had great plans for him, and in the end, God turned the bad into good!2

When we start to feel that our day is going wrong and anger seems to be setting in, remember that God has a plan for you and knows the future. He is with us in both the good and bad days. The best thing we can do is be patient, breathe, and watch God make something good, even out of our bad days.

Suggested prayer: Thank you, Jesus, for letting me wake up every morning. Thank you that I have countless reasons to be happy. Knowing that I can pray to you and ask you for help is the best thing I have. Thank you for allowing me to pray to you whenever my day goes wrong, and trust you to turn it around. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen
