“Not one of all the Lord’s good
promises to Israel failed; every one was fulfilled.”1
We just celebrated Easter and
remembered the amazing love God has for us, and how he gave us the gift of
Salvation through Jesus. Something we could have never earned on our own. But
God’s love, goodness, and generosity to us doesn’t end there! When we confess
our sins to him and receive his forgiveness, not only does he give us eternal
life with him, but he gives us countless promises to give us hope and strength
in all circumstances during our time here on earth.
Over the next couple of weeks, we will
be going over some of God’s promises to us that we find throughout scripture.
Each of these promises has been a source of strength and encouragement during
different seasons in my life, as I am sure they have been, and will be, for you.
Just how God was with the people of Israel, and his mercy and faithfulness to
them never ended, he is with us as well. Even when the people of Israel
rebelled against him, God gave them opportunities to make things right and
continue life with Him.
God is faithful and just. His desire
is always going to be for us to be in relationship with him. When we choose to open
our heart to him, we will experience the blessing that comes with each promise.
Suggested prayer: Dear God, it is easy
to think of the people of Israel and criticize them for often drifting from
you. But, Lord, if I am honest, I have done the same thing! Thank you for the
great reminder that we have in Jesus of your love and mercy. Thank you for the
gift of salvation. You are so amazing that in addition to that, you have given
us promises of your great faithfulness in every situation we face. I open my
heart and ask that you bring me closer to you as I learn more of your goodness
and grace. Thank you for hearing and answering my prayer. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Joshua 21:45.
