Wait patiently for the
Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.1
Psalm 27:14 reminds me of
the long wait that Abraham and Sarah had to endure waiting for a child. God had
promised that they would have many descendants; as much as the stars, which is
a very great promise. However, this promise was not fulfilled right away. It
took many years for Sarah to conceive a child, and they got impatient in the
process which led them to try things their own way. However, in God’s timing,
she did conceive and they named their son Issac. Even though they had gotten
older and were not as youthful when they finally had a child, the one thing
that remained was their deep faith and love for the Lord. This is what made it
possible for them to have a child even in their old age.
Like Abraham and Sarah, we
should wait patiently for the Lord because His timing is perfect. Whether you
are waiting for a job, healing, a significant other, a child, or something
else, God hears you. If it is His will, whatever you are praying for will
happen. If it is not His will, it just means that He has a different plan for
you; not a bad plan, but a better one. Whether our prayers are answered the way
we want or not, we should always keep our faith standing strong. We may be tempted
to take matters into our own hands, but our ways will never be better than God’s
way. We need to wait patiently for the Lord, while also being brave and
courageous in the season of waiting.
Suggested prayer: Dear
God, thank you for having a plan for me and my life. Thank you for hearing my
prayers and for knowing what is best. Please help me to wait patiently and
courageously for you. May your will be done in my life and in the lives of others.
In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
