People Power for Jesus Principle

Not too long ago a mother of young children was out jogging when she was attacked and killed by a mountain lion in California. Trackers with dogs hunted down the lion and destroyed it but spared the lion's cubs.

A fund was set up to help raise and educate the woman's children. Another fund was also established—one to help care for the mountain lion's cubs.

You've probably already guessed the outcome—the lion's cubs received more financial help than the dead woman's children.

It's becoming increasingly alarming where people's priorities are today. Killing babies via abortion doesn't mean a thing to millions of Americans. Homosexuality has become more and more acceptable to the masses, and gay marriage is being accepted even by some church leaders.

The reality is that the masses have great power. As Richard Halverson pointed out "People Power" is a mighty force.

People have the power to close down any operation—or prosper it! For example, pornography prevails because enough people want it, buy it, watch it, listen to it, and read it. It is extremely profitable because countless people prosper it!

People Power has also prospered the tobacco industry, the liquor industry, the movie industry, the gambling industry, the abortion industry and a hundred thousand other products and industries—some of great value, some of little or no value whatsoever, and some that are destructive of individuals, families, and society.

A few years back a popular soft drink company—also made prosperous by People Power—had a goal to give everybody in the world a taste of their product in just a few years. As a result just about anywhere you go in the world you can see the familiar insignia of Coca-Cola.

We Christians have had the "Water of Life" for 2,000 years and still millions of people around the world have never had a chance to drink of the "water of eternal life" that Jesus offered to the woman of Samaria. Even here in the U.S., according to research specialist, George Barna, "76 million adults never attend church."

The People Power principle also applies to publishing and communicating the gospel. God's people have the power to prosper or hinder it.

For four decades ACTS has been totally committed to publishing the gospel. Thousands have been helped to find the Savior through our literature, and over 36,402 have recorded salvation and re-commitment to Christ responses since going online in 1998.These responses came have from 146 countries that we know about.

Currently we are reaching many thousands of people worldwide every week, but with increased "People Power" support we could realistically be reaching millions every week—millions who desperately need the Savior.

However, just because we put up a website, people don’t just rush to visit it. There are several million websites today and the competition to get visitors has increased astronomically. It takes ceaseless work and considerable cost to reach the non-churched with the gospel—we do this via advertising in the secular media. In fact, this is one of our biggest monthly expenses.

As Jesus commanded we are to “go into all the world and preach/proclaim the gospel to everyone everywhere.” Never before has this been more possible than it is today, especially via Email and the Internet. ACTS does this by advertising in the secular media. This way we reach the non-churched.
